How One Million Dreams Foundation is strengthening small businesses in the United States
- Starting a business from scratch is risky. Nearly half of all new businesses fail within five years, but acquiring an existing business significantly improves the odds — with higher survival rates and more immediate revenue.
- One Million Dreams Foundation (OMDF) is working to make that pathway accessible to more entrepreneurs across the United States. Through a blend of individualized technical assistance, credit restoration, and a structured curriculum, OMDF equips underserved women and other underestimated founders with the tools they need to pursue business acquisition as a strategy for growth and long-term wealth creation.

Our work together
In partnership with Mastercard Strive USA, OMDF is running four 10-week cohorts in Atlanta, Georgia, designed to help founders acquire and grow existing businesses. The program includes two distinct tracks:
- Entrepreneurship through Acquisition (EtA): For experienced professionals ready to transition into business ownership by acquiring an existing company.
- Growth through Acquisition (GtA): For established entrepreneurs already generating $1M+ in revenue who are seeking to expand through acquisition.
After completing the program, participants are tracked for two years — providing insight into how acquisition contributes to sustainable ownership, job creation, and wealth generation in underserved communities.
